BOSTON, Mass. - October 10, 2014 - Colby-Sawyer senior
Jackie Keating (Marshfield, Mass.) became the sixth player in Charger volleyball history to record 1,000 career kills. She achieved the milestone in the Chargers' first match of Friday evening.
Colby-Sawyer had its four-match win streak snapped with a pair of 3-0 losses to Trine University and Roger Williams on the first day of the Beacon Invitational hosted by UMass Boston. The Chargers (15-7) will look to rebound with matches against Emerson (12pm) and UMass Boston (6pm) on Saturday.

Trine defeated the Chargers 28-26, 25-21, 25-12.
Colby-Sawyer was led by the newest member of the 1,000 kill club, Jackie Keating. She finished the match with 10 kills to give her 1,001 for her career. Senior teammate Stephanie Vecchio also had10 kills. Lexi Strong notched 13 digs. Kelsey Sullivan hit .333 with five kills. Taylor Rabel led Trine with her eighth double-double of the season, with 19 kills on a .400 hitting percentage to go along with 15 digs. Olivia Deck added a season-high 10 kills on a .444 hitting percentage, while Hartman chipped in with another seven kills. Lauren Verkamp turned in solid work offensively and defensively, with 10 kills to go along with 13 digs. Mikayla Carpenter notched a team-high 18 digs. Searles was solid all around once again with five kills, 41 assists and 13 digs.
Roger Williams then defeated the Chargers, 3-0 for the second time this season. The Hawks won by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-22.
Keating continued her historic night with nine more kills against Roger Williams. She added nine digs.
Laura Smolinski collected 25 assists and four block assists.
Leah Drolet hit .385 for seven kills, while
Lexi Strong added 15 digs.
The Hawks received 13 kills apiece from Elizabeth Flaherty and Kristen Boyer. Flaherty and Boyer added 12 and 11 digs, respectively, for the double-double. Brittany McMullen also reached double figures with 12 kills.
