Men's Soccer Earns 3-0 Shutout at Lyndon

Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - September 29, 2013 - On the heels of a hat trick in Saturday's win at Johnson, Alex Ortega scored two more goals to lead Colby-Sawyer College to a 3-0 victory over Lyndon in North Atlantic Conference men's soccer action Sunday.

At the 18:46 mark of the first half, Andrew Clothier's corner kick found Rick Prindiville in front of the net and he headed the ball in to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. At 30:25 Ortega would score his first of the game to put the Chargers up 2-0. Less than five minutes later, Ortega would score on a free kick to put the Chargers up 3-0.

The Hornets applied pressure to the Chargers defense, but could not find the mark. Lyndon's Jason Marks (Newtown, Conn.) was relieved of his goal keeping duties at 65:56 of the second half by Jason Pelkey (Barre, Vt.). Marks and Pelkey combined for six saves in the loss.

Nick Austin made five saves to earn his fifth shutout of the season. 

Colby-Sawyer (6-3, 2-0) outshot Lyndon (0-8-1, 0-3-1) by a margin of 18-13. The Chargers will host Thomas and Maine-Farmington during next weekend's Fall Festival.
