NORTHFIELD, Vt. - April 3, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team won its fourth straight match after defeating Norwich 8-1 on Wednesday evening.
Sophomore Ryan Grindle (Essex Junction, Vt.) posted the lone win for the Cadets at No. 2 singles with a resounding 6-0, 6-1 victory over
Justin Pinard. Grindle remained unbeaten on the season at second singles as he improved to 6-0.
That was all Norwich (3-3, 1-1 GNAC) was able to muster however as Colby-Sawyer (6-4, 1-0 NAC) charged to an early 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles matches and then took five of the six singles matches to cruise to its second straight win over Norwich. Last year Colby-Sawyer won 6-3 to snap the Cadets' five-match winning streak to start the 2012 season.

Nathan Taschereau dealt junior Christian Hoskey (Saint Charles, Ill.) his first loss of the season in singles action in straight sets by scores of 6-4 and 7-5.
Clay Allen defeated Patrick Ogden (Madison, Ala.) at third singles with a 6-2 win in the first set and then Ogden retired in the second set.
Sergio Spassof downed junior Joe Dvorak (De Soto, Kan.) 6-0, 6-2 at fourth singles, while
Reeve Fidler beat senior Kristine Brammer (Littleton, N.H.) 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles.
Julius Graefe wrapped up the singles action by topping sophomore Gustavo Avila (Phoenix, Ariz.) in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Taschereau and Fidler beat Hoskey and Ogden at first doubles 8-4, while Pinard and Spassof rallied from an early 5-2 hole to comeback and beat Grindle and Dvorak 8-6 at second doubles. Allen and
Paul Holland beat Brammer and Avila 8-0 at third doubles to complete the Charger sweep of doubles action.
Norwich will look to get back on track on Saturday when it travels down to defending GNAC Tournament champion Suffolk to take on the Rams at 3 p.m. The Cadets return home on April 11 when they host Johnson State at 3:30 p.m.
