CASTLETON, Vt. - April 20, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team completed its second straight undefeated North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division season after sweeping Castleton, 9-0 in Saturday's NAC regular season finale.
Colby-Sawyer improved to 11-6 overall and went 6-0 in the NAC East Division. The team went 5-0 in last year's regular season and won the East Division title. Castleton falls to 9-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
The Chargers swept doubles play with an 8-2 victory at No. 1, an 8-3 win at No. 2, and an 8-4 win at No. 3.
Nathan Taschereau and
Reeve Fidler, who won at No. 1 doubles, each won their singles matches in straight sets. Taschereau was at the top flight, while Fidler played at No. 5.
The duo of
Sergio Spassof and
Justin Pinard won at No. 2 doubles. Spassof drooped just one game in his No. 4 singles match to win 6-1, 6-0. Pinard won in the No. 2 slot 6-3, 6-2.
Paul Holland and
Clay Allen took the No. 3 doubles match. Allen easily won the first set at No. 3 singles, but then had to battle for a 7-6 win in the second set. Holland won 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles spot.
The Chargers will host Wheaton (Mass.) tomorrow morning at 11:00 am.
