RUTLAND, Vt. - March 24, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 win over Castleton on Sunday afternoon. The match did not count towards the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) standings. The contest on April 20 will count as a league match.
The Chargers improve to 3-4, while the Spartans suffer their first loss of the season and fall to 4-1. Colby-Sawyer will play at Gordon on Thursday with first serve set for 3:30 pm.
Colby-Sawyer jumped out to a 3-0 lead after easily sweeping doubles play. The No. 1 duo of
Reeve Fidler and
Nathan Taschereau did not drop a point as they won 8-0.
Sergio Spassof and
Paul Holland breezed to an 8-1 win at No. 2, while
Clay Allen and
Erik Boudreault won 8-3 in the third slot.
Taschereau continued his perfect day with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the top flight. Allen, Spassof, Fidler and Holland also won their singles matches in straight sets.
Castleton's lone point came in a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6.
