NEW LONDON, N.H. - March 17, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team swept the Vikings of Salem State, 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 2-3, while the Vikings fall to 0-2 to begin the season. The Chargers host Castleton on Tuesday, a match that will not count towards the North Atlantic Conference standings.
The Chargers got off to a quick start taking a 3-0 lead after easily sweeping the doubles matches.
Reeve Fidler and
Nathan Taschereau picked up an 8-3 win at No. 1, while
Justin Pinard and
Sergio Spassof also came away with an 8-3 win at No. 2.
Clay Allen and
Paul Holland made it a doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory in the third spot.
Taschereau, Pinard, Spassof, Fidler, Holland each added straight set singles victories. Salem State's best chance to take a point on Sunday came in the third singles slot.
Clay Allen dropped the first set 6-3, but responded with a 6-3 win in the second set. Allen gave Colby-Sawyer the 9-0 win with a 12-10 victory in the third set.
