NEW LONDON, N.H. - February 18, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball earned the second seed in the 2012-13 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament. The Chargers will host seventh seed Lyndon on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.

Colby-Sawyer (20-5, 17-1) won both of this year's games over Lyndon (7-17, 5-13). The Chargers received double-doubles from sophomore
Kelsey Cahill (19 pts, 10 rebs) and junior
Mari Meserve (12 pts, 14 rebs) en route to a 77-51 win at Lyndon on December 29. The Hornets were led by Donna Lawson's 15 points.
The Chargers then defeated the Hornets 74-62 in New London on January 26. Cahill (13 pts, 15 rebs),
Cailin Bullett (16 pts, 11 rebs) and
Sammi Lehr (10 pts, 10 rebs) each recorded double-doubles in the victory. Donna Lawson again led Lyndon with a double-double of her own with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Colby-Sawyer is led by reigning NAC Player of the Year and this year's NAC leading scorer
Taylor DeSanty. She is averaging 17.4 points per game to lead the team. Cahill is second on the team with 12.3 points per game and is tops on the team with 8.1 boards per contest. Bullett is the third Charger in double-figures with 11.8 points per game and is leading the league in assists with 154.
Lawson is Lyndon's lone player averaging double-figures with 13.7 points per game, which is fifth best in the NAC. She is second in the NAC with 9.0 rebounds per game.
Defending champion Castleton State College has secured the top seed. The Spartans (24-1 overall, 17-1 NAC) will host eighth-seeded Thomas College (7-17 overall, 5-13 NAC) in a quarterfinal game on Tuesday.
Third-seeded New England College (17-8 overall, 12-6 NAC) will host sixth-seeded Husson University (8-16 overall, 8-10 NAC) Tuesday, while fourth-seeded Maine Maritime (14-11 overall, 11-7 NAC) hosts fifth seed University of Maine at Farmington (11-13, 11-7 NAC) in the final quarterfinal Tuesday.
The top eight teams qualify for the NAC Championship. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages.
Quarterfinal round games will be played on Tuesday, February 19 at the higher seed. Winners will advance to the semifinals held at the highest remaining seed on Friday, February 22. Semifinal winners will meet Saturday, February 23 at the site of the semifinal.
Game times and dates are subject to change. The NAC Champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.
