NEW LONDON, N.H. – November 11, 2013 – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team will make an appearance in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament for the second time in program history. The Chargers earned the fifth seed and will play on Wednesday at fourth seed Norwich. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Colby-Sawyer's only other trip to the ECAC tournament was in 2007 against Framingham State. The Chargers fell 2-1.
The Chargers and Cadets have not met since 2003 and Colby-Sawyer holds a 5-0-1 all-time record in the series.
Colby-Sawyer is 9-8-3 and is coming off a nice run in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament. The Chargers supplied a pair of upsets in the quarterfinals and semifinals beating the third and second seeded teams. Thomas College halted the Chargers' run in the championship match with a 4-1 win.
Norwich enters the tournament with an 11-4-4 record and was 5-1-3 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). The Cadets fell to Lasell, 3-1 in the conference semifinals. Norwich was 3-0-1 against NAC teams this season.
Norwich has received goals from 13 different players and is led by Alec Brigante and Jacob Zimmerman who each have seven tallies.
