Adrienne Bender Becomes All-Time Leading Goal Scorer in 10-0 Win over Green Mountain

Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 8, 2013 – Colby-Sawyer senior Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.) became the Chargers' all-time leader in career goals with 40 after scoring a hat-trick in a 10-0 win over Green Mountain in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action, Tuesday evening at Mercer Field.

Bender surpasses Wendy Theall '03 who recorded 39 in her career. Bender is 13 points behind Theall for most career points.

The Chargers improve to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the NAC, while Green Mountain falls to 4-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

Bender scored the game's first two goals in a three minute stretch from the 13 minute mark to the 16 minute mark. She registered the record breaking goal early in the second half on a feed from junior Sarah Little (Scarborough, Maine).

Junior Michelle Upham (Chelsea, Vt.) scored her team leading ninth goal of the season in the first half off a pass from junior Heather Faasse (Jefferson, N.J.), while freshman Kelsey Campbell (Upton, Mass.) notched her first collegiate goal on an assist from Upham at the 40-minute mark.

Second half goals were provided by senior Lauren Bernard (Manchester, N.H.), Sarah Little, senior Marion James (Willsboro, N.Y.), freshman Stevie Klein (Malden, Mass.), and sophomore Dominique Papa (Farmington, Conn.). The goals for Klein and Papa were the first of their careers. Morgan Ekstrom (Wolfeboro, N.H.) added an assist.

Colby-Sawyer goalie Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.) increased her school record single season shutout total to 11 and did not have to make a save. Junior keeper Amber Heath (Windsor, Vt.) played 56:43 and allowed eight goals, while making three saves. Sophomore Kim Simonetti (Salem, Mass.) worked the remaining 33:17 and allowed a pair of goals, while stopping four shots.

Colby-Sawyer had advantages of 29-2 in shots and 11-0 in corners.

The Chargers begin a three-game road trip on Saturday at Maine Maritime. The contest is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. Green Mountain will host New England College next Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. The game will be senior day for the Eagles.
