Karley Hamilton Sets Shutout Record with 3-0 Win over Thomas

Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 5, 2013 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over Thomas College in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest, on Saturday afternoon at Kelsey Field.

Sophomore Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.) registered her ninth shutout of the season, which is a new school record surpassing the eight clean sheets of Shay Spencer '13, Kate Ireland '95, and Christina Quirk '09.

The Chargers improve to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the NAC, while Thomas dips to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

Senior Marion James (Willsboro, N.Y.) scored the first goal and eventual game-winner at 17:04 off a feed from fellow senior Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.). The goal was James' third of the season.

The Chargers took a 2-0 lead ten minutes later on junior Michelle Upham's (Chelsea, Vt.) team leading eighth goal of the season. Junior Heather Faasse (Jefferson, N.J.) found the foot of her teammate with a precise through ball and let Upham do the rest.

Colby-Sawyer added a third goal early in the second half. Sophomore Tallon Tomasi (Williston, Vt.) ripped a shot past the Thomas keeper to score on her only shot of the game. 

Colby-Sawyer sophomore Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.) stopped both of Thomas' shots en route to her ninth shutout of the season. Thomas keeper Kate Thibodeau (Woolwich, Maine) kept Thomas in the game with 18 saves. 

Colby-Sawyer outshot the Terriers 30-2 and held a 6-1 edge in corners.

The Chargers host Maine-Farmington on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The game will be covered by NSN and can be seen via live stream at www.nsnsports.net. Thomas travels to New England College tomorrow for a 3:30 p.m. contest with the Pilgrims.
