Thomas Edges Men's Soccer, 2-1

Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 5, 2013 – Thomas College received a second half goal off the foot of junior Kenny Cano (Lowell, Mass.) to earn a 2-1 road win at Colby-Sawyer, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas improves to 5-4-1 overall and 2-1 in the NAC, while the Chargers fall to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Colby-Sawyer took a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute when sophomore Isaac Nichols (Sturbridge, Mass.) collected a rebound from an Andrew Clothier (Matamata, New Zealand) strike that was tipped by the keeper and bounced off the crossbar. Nichols controlled the ball and put it into the back of the net for his first tally of the season.

The Terriers found the equalizer in the 30th minute when senior Paul Rechichi (Kingsley, Australia) scored on a penalty kick.

An evenly played game throughout the first half resulted in a 1-1 tie at the break.

Cano scored the eventual game-winner in the 68th minute after receiving a pass from sophomore Tre Ming (Devonshire, Bermuda). The goal was Cano's third on the season.

Thomas goalie Mikkail Crockwell (St. David's, Bermuda) made six saves in the win. Colby-Sawyer keeper Nick Austin (Westerly, R.I.) had four stops in the loss.

The Chargers held a 15-9 edge in shots, but could only get one by the Thomas keeper. 

Colby-Sawyer hosts Maine-Farmington on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. The game will be live streamed at nsnsports.net. Thomas heads down I-89 tomorrow to play New England College at 1:00 p.m.
