NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 15, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer College men's tennis team swept former Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Endicott, 9-0 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.
The Chargers improve to 3-1 this fall, while Endicott drops to 0-3. Both teams have completed the fall portion of their schedules and will resume playing in March.
Colby-Sawyer swept all three doubles matches by identical 8-2 scores.
Cass McCann and
Justin Pinard defeated Michael Dolph and Michael Lauretano at the top flight.
Clay Allen and
Myles Utell defeated Eric Gandrup and Evan Ross at No. 2, while
Sergio Spassof and
Dean Boodakian downed Sean McAndrews and Justin Warshavsky in the third slot.
Utell breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 at the top singles flight over Ross. McCann needed a third set to dispose of Dolph 6-3, 4-6, and 12-10 in the No. 2 spot.
Allen also needed three sets to earn a 6-0, 3-6, and 10-3 win against Lauretano at the third flight.
Pinard picked up a 6-1 win in the first set of his No. 4 match against Warshavsky. The two battled in the second set, which ended in a tie break that Pinard won 12-10.
Spassof took the No. 5 singles match over McAndrews. After dropping the first set 6-4, Spassof rebounded with two straight set victories 6-0 and 6-2.
Boodakian gave the Chargers the 9-0 sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tyler Lemieux at No. 6.
