Women's Soccer Improves to 6-0 in the NAC

Box Score CASTINE, Maine - October 12, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team shutout Maine Maritime 4-0 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match Saturday. The Chargers remain unbeaten in the NAC at 6-0, 13-2 overall while the Mariners drop to 2-4-1, 3-7-2.

Strong goaltending from Maine Maritime's Taylor O'Malley's kept the game was scoreless in the first 40 minutes of play. O'Malley was challenged five times early in the contest and stopped all five shots. Michelle Upham broke the deadlock in the 40th minute when she netted an unassisted goal for her team leading 10th goal of the season.

The Chargers added to their lead early in the second half when Heather Faasse found Adrienne Bender in the 50th minute to put Colby-Sawyer ahead 2-0. The Chargers struck again five minutes later when Marion James, who received a pass from Sarah Little, scored in the 57th minute.

The Chargers tacked on one more score in the 82nd minute with an unassisted goal from Tallon Tomasi.

Colby-Sawyer held a 21-1 shots advantage and 11-1 on corner kicks. O'Malley finished with nine stops while Karley Hamilton picked up the win for the Chargers.

The Chargers step out of conference play on Wednesday for a road match at Worcester State. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Coughlin Stadium.
