NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 8, 2012 – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team played their second straight ranked team as #5 Amherst visited Kelsey Field on Saturday. The Lord Jeffs, playing their first game of the season, picked up a 6-0 shutout.
Amherst goes to 1-0, while the Chargers drop to 1-3.
Senior Spencer Noon (Farmington, Conn.) netted a hat trick for the Lord Jeffs. Senior Federico Sucre (Caracas, Venezuela), junior Jae Heo (Changwon, South Korea), and junior Max Fikke (New York, N.Y.) each added a goal.
Amherst keeper Thomas Bull (Montgomery, N.J.) went the first 79 minutes and did not have to make a save. Sophomore Matt Tower (Acton, Mass.) played the remaining 11 minutes and saved the only shot he faced. Colby-Sawyer keeper
Marc-Andre Parent (South Yarmouth, Mass.) made three saves in the loss.
Colby-Sawyer plays at Clark on Wednesday. Game starts at 6:00 pm.
