Thok Scores 42 as Men's Basketball Falls to Curry 97-96

AMHERST, Mass. - November 16, 2012 - Sophomore Koang Thok scored a career-high 42 points, but it was not enough as the Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team was edged by Curry College, 97-96 on Friday evening, in a season opener for both teams at the Ken Wright Memorial Invitational hosted by Amherst College.

The Chargers drop to 0-1 and will play Newbury tomorrow at 1:00 pm in the invitational's consolation game. Curry improves to 1-0 and will play Amherst at 3:00 pm.

The 42 points scored by Thok is the third highest single game total in Colby-Sawyer history. He shot 16-23 from the floor and was two makes shy of a school record 18 set by Brian Wilder in 1998. 

Sophomore Mike Dias recorded a double-double with 19 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Senior Paul Holland was the third member of the team to reach double figures with 12 points. 

The Colonels held a comfortable 53-41 lead at the half, but Colby-Sawyer battled all the way back and held a lead with under a minute to play. 

The Chargers shot 50.7% from the floor, but were16-25 from the free throw line. Curry shot 60.3% from the field.
