Men's Soccer Earns 3-1 NAC Win over Lyndon

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 13, 2012 – The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team picked up an important 3-1 win over Lyndon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The Chargers improve to 4-8-2 overall and pull even at 3-3 in the conference. Lyndon falls to 3-11 overall and 2-4 in the NAC.

Colby-Sawyer took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute when sophomore Chris DiCecca (Wilmington, Mass.) headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner kick from junior Mike Laskowski (Fremont, N.H.).

The Chargers went into the half leading 2-0 after sophomore Ram Khalsa (Rio Vista, N.M.) broke away from the defense and got by the oncoming keeper to score into a wide open net.

Laskowski added insurance in the 68th minute when he sent a bounding ball towards the net that knuckled and found the right corner of the goal. The tally was Laskowski's first of the season.

Lyndon spoiled the shutout in the 85th minute on a goal from freshman Allen Komisarek (Bethlehem, N.H.). Komisarek was at the top of the 18-yard box on the right side when he sent a shot into the lower left corner past the keeper.

Colby-Sawyer sophomore goalie Nick Austin (Westerly, R.I.) made four saves in the victory. Lyndon senior keeper Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) had five stops in the loss.

The Chargers held a 16-11 edge in shots and a 7-3 advantage in corners.

Colby-Sawyer hosts Johnson State tomorrow at 3:00 pm, while Lyndon travels to New England College for a 2:30 pm contest.
