Paul Holland Ties School Record with 9 3-pointers in 85-43 Win at Maine Maritime

CASTINE, Maine - January 6, 2012 - Paul Holland connected on nine three pointers, which tied a school record previousl set by Jim Durrell '94, T.J. Gondek '95, and Will Bardaglio '12, to help lift the Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team to an 85-43 North Atlantic Conference victory at Maine Maritime on Friday evening.

The Chargers (6-5, 4-1 NAC) shot 51.6% from the floor in the opening stanza, including a 6-of-11 effort from behind the arc to take the Mariners (2-8, 1-3 NAC) out of the game early.

Colby-Sawyer got 29 points out of Paul Holland (U.K.). The junior clicked on 10-of-17 shots from the floor, including a 9-of-16 effort from three-point range. He racked up 17 points in the first half alone. Koang Thok (Portland, Maine) dumped in 18 points, while James Tobin (Brookline, N.H.) added 11.  Zach Bean (Scarborough, Maine) led all rebounders with nine boards.

Shawn Dostie (Bowdoinham, Maine) led the Mariners with 17 points. He accounted for 13 of the Mariners 16 first half points. Andy Ball (Hermon, Maine) pulled down eight rebounds.

The Mariners struggled with the Chargers press from the outset, turning the ball over 19 times. The Chargers turned that into 32 points. Colby-Sawyer scored 44 points off of Maine Maritime's 29 turnovers in the game.

The team travels to Husson for a 1:00 pm tip on Saturday.
