NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 10, 2011 – The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over Lyndon, in the school's first ever North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest.
The Chargers began the match by sweeping all three doubles matches in convincing fashion. The No. 1 doubles tandem of sophomore Liz Lincoln (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior
Claire Toffey (Barnstable, Mass.) blanked Lyndon's duo of Kelsey Johnson and Kayla Flynn, 8-0. At the No. 2 flight, senior
Siobhan Masse (Southbridge, Mass.) and sophomore
Kathleen Rogers (Falls Village, Conn.) also picked up an 8-0 win over Kaitlin Cunningham and Margaret Harrington. Sophomore
Ari Marks (Grantham, N.H.) and freshman
Ellen Graham (Newburyport, N.H.) made it a sweep after defeating Olivia Bernard and Margaret George, 8-2 in the No. 3 slot.
Lincoln, Rogers, Graham, and Marks also picked up singles victories for the Chargers. Flynn and George were responsible for Lyndon's two points as they earned wins at the second and sixth flights, respectively.
Colby-Sawyer will be at Colby and Thomas on Sunday for matches at 2:00pm and 4:00pm, respectively. Lyndon hosts Thomas next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
