Swimming and Diving Earn Victories

NEW LONDON, N.H. - November 19, 2011 - The Colby-Sawyer men's and women's swimming and diving team earned victories this afternoon. The women defeated Elms College 69-63 and Plymouth State University 77-63 while the men earned a closely contested victory defeating Elms College 130-126.

In the third woman's dual match, Elms bested Plymouth State 72-65.

The Chargers women were led by a four win performance from freshman Krystyna Estrada. Estrada earned individual victories in the 100 yard freestyle (58.54), 200 yard freestyle (2:08.89) and 100 yard IM (1:05.38). She also anchored the 200 yard freestyle relay team to a first place finish. The team also included Erin Dunican, Eleni White, and Jen Gavell.

Sophomore Erin Dunican earned two victories on the day in addition to her aiding the 200 yard freestyle relay team. Dunican placed first in the 50 yard breaststroke (33.14) and 50 yard freestyle (26.72).

On the men's side, the Chargers were led by freshman Travis Dennison. Dennison earned first place finishes in the 200 yard butterfly (2:10.37) and the 400 yard IM (4:47.03). He also helped the 200 yard medley relay team to a second place finish.

The Chargers earned a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team was comprised of  Kyle Harris, Jimmy Montanari, Owen Worden and Keenan Bartlett.

Bartlett also had a strong individual day, placing second in the 100 yard backstroke (1:04.04) and a third place finish in the 500 yard freestyle (5:36.14).

The men's and women's team will return to the pool on December 2nd and 3rd when they travel to Bristol, R.I. for the Roger Williams Invitational.
