Swimming & Diving Earns Second Straight Victory

NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 29, 2011 - The Colby-Sawyer men's and women's swimming & diving teams won their second straight meet after defeating Gordon on Saturday afternoon. The men won 171-67, while the women won 170-87.

The women's team was led by freshman Krystyna Estrada (Lebanon, N.H.) and sophomore Erin Dunican (Bennington, Vt.) who each won four events.

Estrada began the afternoon as a member of the 200 medley relay team that took first in 2:02.87. She then captured the 50 freestyle in 26.24. Estrada won the 100 freestyle in a time of 57.56 and capped her day off as a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay team that clocked in at 1:47.75.

Dunican also was on the winning 200 medley and freestyle relay teams. She also won the 50 breaststroke (33.81) and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.96).  

Freshman Travis Dennison (Ellsworth, Maine), senior Owen Worden (New Bedford, Mass.), and sophomore Keenan Bartlett (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) each had four wins for the men's team. Each swimmer was on the winning 200 medley relay team that touched the wall in 1:51.39.

Dennison also took the top spot in the 200 freestyle (1:58.30), 100 butterfly (58.08), and the 50 butterfly (25.72).

Worden was the first to touch the wall in the 50 breaststroke at 32.01. He also finished on top in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.98) and the 200 IM (2:19.88).

Bartlett won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 12:13.33. He then went on to win the 50 backstroke (29.82) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.84).

The Chargers host Saint Michael's next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
