Men's Soccer Defeats Rivier, 3-0 in Final Tune-up Before NAC Playoffs

NASHUA, N.H. - October 28, 2011 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer picked up a 3-0 road win at Rivier in non-conference action on Friday night. The Chargers end the regular season 6-11-1 and play at Castleton on Sunday at 1:00 pm in the North Atlantic Conference quarterfinals.

The Chargers outshot Rivier (0-15) 57-1.

Colby-Sawyer got on the board in the 15th minute on a goal from Kevin Flaherty. Derek Veilleux sent a cross towards the box and Flaherty did the rest for his fourth goal of the season.

Eight minutes later, Clay Allen added his fourth tally of the year off a nice feed from Flaherty, who is tied for the team lead in points with 12.

The Chargers led 2-0 at the break and held advantages in shots 26-0 and corners 8-0.

The second half was much of the same for the Chargers as they controlled play throughout.

With less than four minutes remaining, Chris DiCecca added Colby-Sawyer's third goal of the game. Drew Pehoviak was credited with the assist.

Will Berry turned away the only shot he faced to pick up his third clean sheet of the season.
