NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 22, 2011 – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team was defeated by Husson, 4-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
Husson improves to 10-6-1 overall and sit atop the NAC standings at 8-1. Colby-Sawyer falls to 5-10-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the NAC.
The Eagles received a fortunate goal under a minute into the game when a Colby-Sawyer defender tried to kick the ball out of play, but ended up going into the net.
Husson went up 2-0 in the ninth minute when Philip Frost (Bangor, Maine) put home a nice feed from Greg Dawson (St. Andrews, Scotland).
The Eagles held the 2-0 advantage into the half and went ahead 3-0 in the 57th minute on Zach Emeigh's (Ellsworth, Maine) fourth goal of the season. Emeigh took a feed from Ahmed Abdirahman (Lewiston, Maine) and made a quick step to juke the goalie and slid the ball into the goal past the oncoming keeper.
Husson secured the victory with a fourth goal less than a minute later. Andrew Austin (Ellsworth, Maine) sent a flip throw-in towards the box and it was headed into the net by Frost for his 10th goal of the season.
Husson held advantages in shots (15-10) and corner kicks (6-3).
Husson keeper Mason Smith (Houma, La.) earned the shutout and made three saves.
Will Berry (Berlin, Vt.) made six saves in the loss.
Colby-Sawyer hosts Castleton on Tuesday for a NAC regular season finale at 3:30pm. Husson will wait for postseason seeding for their matchup next weekend.
