Middlebury Slips Past Chargers, 68-60

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - January 7, 2010 -
Freshman Taylor DeSanty scored a career-high 21 points, but it was not enough as the Middlebury Panthers won on their home court, 68-60. The Chargers open TCCC action on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Regis.

The Panthers (6-3) held a slim 34-32 halftime lead, but it was a back and forth affair with five ties and five lead changes. The second half was similar with five ties and four lead changes, but Middlebury took the last lead with 4:36 left to play and warded off a Chargers comeback.

DeSanty led all scorers with the 21 points and shot 9-18 from the floor with 3-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Freshman Cailin Bullett added 11 points. Sophomore Maggie Rossi contributed six assists.

Senior Terri Duffy scored nine points and pulled down seven rebounds. She moved into seventh on the all-time rebounding list.

The Chargers held a big advantage in the paint outscoring Middlebury 34-22, while the Panthers held a 21-8 difference off the bench.
