SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - January 3, 2010 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team dropped its third straight game with a 58-47 loss to Wesleyan in the Hampton Inn/Naismith Classic consolation game at Springfield College. The Chargers fall to 3-7, while Wesleyan improves to 5-4.
The Chargers struggled shooting the ball for the second straight game. The team shot just 22.2% but remained within striking distance thanks in part to making 19 of 23 free throws.
Senior
Terri Duffy moved into 8th place on the all-time scoring list with another 12 points today. She now has 1062. Duffy added a team-best 10 rebounds in the contest. She also moved into 4th all-time with 249 free throws made.
Freshman
Taylor DeSanty registered seven points and four rebounds. Sophomore
Maggie Rossi added seven points and a game-high five assists.
Melanie Ferdinand led Wesleyan with 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting. Eileen Gaffney contributed 10 points.
The team has a busy week beginning with a home game against RPI on Tuesday at 2:00 pm. The Chargers then travel to Middlebury on Thursday and then open TCCC play on Saturday with a 1:00 pm contest at Regis.
