Jason Chevrefils led four Chargers in double-figures with 21 points in an 89-83 victory over Worcester State at the Purple and Gold Invitational on Sunday evening. Colby-Sawyer improves to 6-4 overall, while the Lancers fall to 3-6.
Each team had success shooting the ball this evening with the Lancers knocking down 50% and the Chargers hitting on 49.2% of their shots. Worcester State held a slim 40-39 advantage at the break, but the Chargers shot 6-of-11 from beyond the arc in the second en route to the victory. Colby-Sawyer took a lead two minutes into the second 20 minutes and never looked back. The lead would balloon to as much as 12 with six minutes left and shielded off a Lancers comeback.
Chevrefils shot 8-of-11 from the floor in addition to four rebounds and four steals. Senior
Dave Rosso chipped in 20 points including a 4-for-8 performance from three point land. Senior
Jon Chaloux had 16 points and four blocks moving him into fourth place on the Chargers all-time blocks list with 87.
James Tobin was perfect shooting the ball tonight going 3-3 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line. He finished with eight points and six rebounds.
The Lancers were led by a triple-double from Maurice Horton. He compiled a game-high 26 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. Horton was 8-20 from the floor, 10-13 from the charity stripe, but 0-6 from beyond the arc.
The Chargers will play tournament host Williams on Monday at 7:00 pm. The Ephs are currently ranked 10th in the country and hold a 10-1 record with their only defeat coming against 4th ranked Randolph-Macon.
