Jon Chaloux became the 13th Colby-Sawyer's men's basketball player to register 1000 career points, but the Chargers fell to Curry in overtime, 89-79 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action.
Colby-Sawyer drops to 9-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while Curry remains unbeaten in TCCC play at 4-0 and moves to 7-7 overall.
Chaloux knocked down a jumper for the first basket of the game, giving him his 999th and 1000th career points. He finished the contest with his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The first half was a tale of two sides as Curry did most of their damage in the paint, while the Chargers built a 35-32 lead at the break at the free throw line. Colby-Sawyer knocked down 10 of 12 from the line and the Colonels responded with a 20-8 advantage inside. Curry was led by Philippe Jourdain who scored 14 in the first 20 minutes, while the Chargers had 13 points from
Jason Chevrefils and 10 from
Dave Rosso.
The Colonels picked up their defense in the second half and forced 12 Chargers turnovers, which led to 16 Curry points. The Chargers remained in the game thanks to their three-point shooting.
Will Bardaglio drained 4 of 9 in the second, while Rosso hit the game-tying trey with under 10 seconds to play.
Jarrell Jackson gave Curry a lift off the bench by scoring 16 points in the second half. He continued his inspired play in the overtime session with 12 more points including 10 of 10 from the foul line. He finished the game with 28 points, six assists and five steals.
Colby-Sawyer was led by
Jason Chevrefils who registered his second career double-double with a team-high 20 points and 13 rebounds. Bardaglio finished with 18 points, while Rosso poured in 16.
Jourdain recorded a double-double for Curry with 25 points and 14 rebounds.
The Chargers will host Nichols at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 23.
