NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 12, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team defeated New England College, 67-49 behind a game-high 23 points from freshman
Jason Chevrefils (Manchester, N.H.). The Chargers improve to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Pilgrims drop to 5-9 overall and 0-2 in TCCC action.
New England College jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a layup and free throw from junior Joe Faragher (North Ridgeville, Ohio). The Chargers responded with a 13-4 run on the back of Chevrefils who scored 10 points in that stretch. He finished the first half a perfect 8-8 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line for 18 points. Colby-Sawyer held the lead for the remainder of the contest and led as much as 19 points.
The Pilgrims defense stepped in on Chevrefils during the second half limiting him to just five points. Senior
Jon Chaloux (Barre, Vt.) then took over the scoring for the Chargers scoring 12 of his 17 points in the second half. Chaloux also finished with a career-high 18 rebounds, which is one shy of a school record, registering his third double-double of the season.

Dave Rosso (Wilmington, Vt.) added 11 points, while sophomore
Will Bardaglio (Wayne, Maine) chipped in four three-pointers for 12 points.
Leading New England College was sophomore Eric Lenahan (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) who was the only Pilgrim in double-figures with 10 points. Faragher finished with six points, eight rebounds and a game-high five steals.
The Chargers hit the road again on Saturday for a 3:00pm tip at Anna Maria. New England College also plays next on Saturday at 3:00pm at Nichols.
