Men's Soccer Falls to New England College 2-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 19, 2009- The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell to TCCC foe, New England College, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Pilgrims scored both goals in a four-minute span in the second half en route to improving to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference. With the loss, the Chargers drop to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in TCCC action. 
Freshman Paul McLean (East Hartford, Conn.) broke a scoreless tie in the second half when he ripped a shot into the upper left corner of the net past the Colby-Sawyer goalie.
McLean would influence the game's second goal when he found the foot of fellow freshman Mark Mangini (Derry, N.H.). Colby-Sawyer keeper Chris Feltes (Manchester, N.H.) came out to challenge the play, but Mangini was able to slide the ball by Feltes into the lower left corner.
Colby-Sawyer had multiple scoring chances and held a 14-9 edge in shots. Nevertheless, junior Pat Harkin (Scituate, R.I.) was up to the task every time and finished with seven saves. Feltes made two saves in the loss.
Colby-Sawyer will hit the road on Tuesday with a match at TCCC powerhouse Western New England. The Pilgrims will travel to Anna Maria on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm start.
