WENHAM, Mass. – April 5, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over the Fighting Scots of Gordon on Wednesday evening. The Chargers even their overall record to 6-6 and improve their TCCC mark to 4-2. Gordon falls to 5-11 overall and 2-5 in conference.
The Fighting Scots took an early lead in the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. However, the Chargers won five of the six singles matches to earn the 6-3 victory.
Junior Ben Dabush (Weston, Conn.) won at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with senior teammate Evan Campbell (White River Jct. Vt.) to record two points. Campbell earned another point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles.
Sophomore Robert Barnes (Wayland, Mass.) earned a victory at the second flight 6-2, 7-6 over Blake Larson. Junior Bryan Racz (Stratton, Vt.) won a close match at No. 3 singles 6-4, 7-6. Freshman Chris Lavoie (Gorham , Maine) rounded out the Colby-Sawyer singles winners with a come from behind victory 3-6, 7-6, and 6-2.
The men's tennis team will next play Western New England.
