Chargers Fall to Roger Williams in TCCC Semifinals

BRISTOL, R.I.- April 24, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team fell to the Hawks of Roger Williams, 5-0 in Friday's TCCC Semifinal contest. The Hawks advance to play Salve Regina for the conference championship.

The closest match of the day featured Hawks sophomore Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Conn.) and freshman Jeff DeNunzio (Barrington, R.I.) facing sophomore Hart Callahan (Malvern, Pa.) and senior Ben Taylor (Derry, N.H.). The Hawks' duo battled to the eventual 9-8 victory. RWU junior Kyle Baker (Bolton, Conn.) and senior Brad Bolte (Augusta, N.J.) won 8-3, while senior Jeffrey Agonia (Lincoln, R.I.) and freshman Ryan Kim (Port Washington, N.Y.) also cruised to an 8-1 win.

In singles play, only two matches were needed to complete the sweep. Kleitz was able to defeat junior Bryan Racz (Stratton, Vt.), 6-0, 6-2, while Baker defeated freshman Chris Lavoie (Gorham, Maine), 6-1, 6-3.
