Chargers Fall to Brandeis, 7-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – April 13, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team was defeated by Brandeis 7-2, on Monday after noon at the Rieger Tennis Courts. The loss drops Colby-Sawyer's record to 7-7 overall while the win propels the Judge's record to 7-9.

Brandeis (7-9) was paced by their two-time captain, who picked up a 6-2, 6-2, win at No. 1 singles and teamed with sophomore Simon Miller (Plantation, Fla.) for an 8-0 win at No. 1 singles. Miller took a 6-3, 6-3, decision at No. 2 singles. Junior Seth Rogers (Gainesville, Fla.) had the easiest match of the day at No. 3 singles, not dropping a game in a 6-0, 6-0, win. Rookie Josh Bookman (Weston, Mass.) also cruised at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Rogers and sophomore Mayur Kasetty (Northboro, Mass.) teams for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, while Kasetty was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at No. 4 singles.

Colby-Sawyer (7-7) got their two points from the bottom of their line-up. Senior Evan Campbell (White River Junction, Vt.) and sophomore Robert Barnes (Wayland, Mass.) teamed for an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles, while rookie Chris Lavoie (Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) won the day's most competitive match at No. 6 singles, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
