NEW LONDON, N.H. - March 28, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team defeated the seven-time defending TCCC Champion Salve Regina Seahawks, 5-4 on Saturday, March 28. The last time Salve Regina lost a regular season conference game was on April 8, 2000 when they were defeated by Nichols, 8-1. The Chargers improve their overall record to 4-5 and 2-1 in conference play. Salve Regina drops to 3-7 overall and 2-1 in TCCC action.
Senior captain Ben Taylor (Derry, N.H.) clinched the match for the Chargers with a win at No. 3 flight. Fellow senior Captain Evan Campbell (White River Jct. Vt.) showed great maturity in a 6-0 6-4 win at the No. 5 flight. Sophomore Hart Callahan (Malvern, Pa.) led the team at the top position earning two points at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

Trey Van Buskirk, Steve Masso and Zachary Rosenfeld earned points for the Seahawks in singles. The doubles team of Charlie Normington and Rosenfeld won at the No. 2 doubles spot.
Colby-Sawyer returns to action on April 1 when they will host Nichols at 4:00 p.m. Salve Regina hosts Roger Williams on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
