Chargers Ease To Victory, Defeat Gordon 90-64

WENHAM, Mass. - February, 10, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team was firing on all cylinders Tuesday night at the Bennett Center, en route to a 90-64 victory over Gordon. The Chargers have now won six consecutive games and are 17-4 overall, 9-1 in TCCC action.

The Chargers hit 6 of their first 7 shots out of the gate en route to a 14-2 lead, and never looked back. Junior Jon Chaloux (Barre, Vt.) had 29 points including a 5-6 performance behind the arc, to lead all scorers.

Despite frequent substitutions from Coach Mike Schauer, and three treys from Brady Bajema, Gordon was unable to get back in the game after the game's opening run. Colby-Sawyer went into the break up 48-26, after shooting 65% in the opening 20 minutes.

For the game, Colby-Sawyer put five scorers in double figures. In addition to Chaloux's big performance, freshman Will Bardaglio (Wayne, Maine) and Chrispatrick Cox (Barre, Vt.) had 12 points apiece, while junior David Rosso (Wilmington, Vt.) had 11 and senior Duncan Szeliga (Newmarket, N.H.) added 10.

The rough night for Gordon was highlighted by the 17 points by junior guard Aaron Trigg. The performance brought Trigg's career total at Gordon to 1000 overall points.

Brady Bajema had 12 point s and Ben Gaskill added 10 for Gordon who fell to 6-4 in conference play with the loss, 15-6 overall.

Colby-Sawyer will face the University of New England, Saturday at 1:00 p.m., with first place in the conference on the line.
