Men's Soccer Soars to 1-0 Win at Endicott

Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. - October 24, 2009 -
The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory at Endicott, on a rain soaked turf Saturday evening. Freshman Jesse Phillips (Arlington, Va.) came off the bench to score the game's lone goal midway through the second half.

The first half didn't have much action as both teams tried to keep their footing on the slick turf. Phillips took advantage of the slippery conditions in the second half when Endicott keeper Daniel Higgins could not corral the ball properly. Phillips gathered the rebound and struck the ball into the lower right corner for his second goal of the season.

The Gulls held a 14-10 advantage in shots, but only a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Senior Chris Feltes (Manchester, N.H.) made all five saves in earning his second shutout of the season.

The Chargers will wrap-up the regular season on Wednesday with a home match against Nichols. The team will be celebrating senior day.
