Chargers Rebound With Come From Behind Victory Over Framingham State, 63-58

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - November 16, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers defeated the Framingham State Rams, 63-58, in the third place game of the annual Hampton Inn Classic at the Tripp Athletic Center, Sunday afternoon.

Colby-Sawyer overcame a hefty 40-28 deficit to grab the comeback victory, holding the Rams to only 18 points and 19.4% shooting in the second half. Senior center Duncan Szeliga (Newmarket, N.H.) led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds. Junior guard David Rosso (Wilmington, Vt.) followed with 13 points, giving him a team-high 33 points for the tournament. Senior guard Matt Lemieux (Manchester, N.H.) was the game's top-scoring guard with ten points plus four assists.

In defeat, the Rams saw another outstanding individual effort from junior forward Josue Almodovar (Holyoke, Mass.). Almodovar led all scorers with 19 points, narrowly missing a double-double with nine rebounds. Junior forward Roderick Jackson (Cambridge, Mass.) finished off a strong tournament with 11 points. Sophomore swingman Royce Veal (Dorchester, Mass.) grabbed ten rebounds, seven of which were offensive, in 16 minutes off the bench. The Rams lost despite outrebounding the Chargers by a 53-31 margin, and claiming 26 offensive rebounds.

For their cumulative efforts this weekend, both Szeliga of Colby-Sawyer and Almodovar of Framingham State were named to the Hampton Inn Classic All-Tournament Team.

The Chargers improved to 1-1 with the victory, while the Rams fell to 0-2 with the defeat. The Chargers are back in action on Friday night at 8 p.m. against Rutgers-Camden at the Rivier Tournament, while the Rams resume play at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at Wentworth.
