SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - May 14, 2015 - Three members of the Colby-Sawyer track and field team competed on the first day of the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship hosted by Springfield College.
A total of 83 men's teams will compete at the championship and 82 institutions will represent the women's side.
RESULTSSCHEDULE Rachel Quaye began her weekend with an impressive performance in the javelin. She earned All-ECAC honors by placing eighth out of 27 with a distance of 38.32 meters. Quaye and 14 other competitors started the heptathlon with four events on Thursday. She is currently in seventh place with 2452 points and is within striking distance of the first place point total of 2639. Highlighting the four events for Quaye was a victory in the shot put. She was one of two competitors to eclipse 10 meters and finished with a distance of 12.14 meters to earn first place points. Quaye finished eighth in the 200 meter dash (27.84), 11th in the 100 meter hurdles (16.83) and tied for 13th in the high jump (1.41m). Quaye will conclude the heptathlon on Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meter run.
Hayden Bunnell placed 15th in the 10k with a time of 32:55.13. Bunnell will join his teammates to compete in the 4x800 relay on Friday at 3:45 p.m.
Rasheed Foster just missed out on making the 100 meter dash finals with a ninth place finish in Thursday's prelims. The top eight, in the 36 runner field, make the finals on Friday. Foster clocked in at 10.93 to finish one spot away from a bid to the finals. He will compete in the 200 meter dash tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
