BOSTON, Mass. - December 5, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer women's indoor track and field team opened the 2015-16 season at the 4th Annual UMass Boston Indoor Open at the Reggie Lewis Center.
RESULTSHighlighting the first meet of the season was
Rachel Quaye. She qualified for the New England and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships in the shot put. Quaye recorded a distance of 11.69m and placed fourth out of 40.
Becca Hashem set a new program record in the weight throw with a mark of 12.81 meters. She finished tied for fourth out of 25 competitors.
Three more records were broken by the Chargers on Saturday.
Kate LaPorte set a new standard in the 200 meter dash crossing the finish line in 28.46 seconds.
Emily Lopez bested her previous school record in the 800 meter run. She placed third out of 22 with a time of 2:27.72 to break the previous mark by over five seconds.
The final record belonged to
Lauren Oligny. She came away with a new fastest time in the mile run. Oligny placed 11th at 5:41.95.
The Chargers will return to the track next Saturday at Plymouth State.
