Parnell finished second overall in the slalom in a combined time of 1:36.77. Brayden Luscombe of Canada placed first overall in the slalom race by 5.41 seconds. However, Parnell was the top american slalom finisher, crowning him the American adaptive slalom national champion.
Parnell also placed fourth overall and was the third American finisher in the adaptive giant slalom in a combined time of 2:11.48.
When asked about winning his first national championship and his future, Parnell was quoted, "To finally be a national champion feels unbelievable. It is very relieving to finally have all of my hard work pay off. As in terms of what is next, I am already on the Paralympic national team, but this upcoming March I will be making my world cup debut in Winter Park, Colorado. Training at CSC has been the biggest contributor to my success. Before college, I was only skiing 1-2 days per week, but now that I ski with CSC, I get to go out on the mountain 4-5 days per week."
Parnell's first World Cup race will be held at the Winter Park Resort in Winter Park, Colorado from March 6-9, 2012.
