2010 Baseball Season Recap

The 2010 Colby-Sawyer baseball team featured only three seniors and seven juniors. Nevertheless, the team received great contributions from its 15 freshmen and sophomore during the year. Although the Chargers failed to reach the playoffs in 2010, there were certainly highlights throughout the season.

The Colby-Sawyer baseball team was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award as voted on by the TCCC coaches. The team also finished the season with the second best stolen base percentage in school history swiping 48 of 57 attempts (.842). Colby-Sawyer also set a new school mark for pickoffs in a season with eight.

The Chargers finished the season 9-13 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) for the second straight season, while recording an overall mark of 14-19.

Senior Chris Hartery (Billerica, Mass.) and sophomore Greg Mehuron (Waitsfield, Vt.) were honored by The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) for their performance on the diamond. Hartery earned a nod to the All-TCCC First Team for the first time of his career, while Mehuron garnered All-TCCC honorable mention accolades.

Hartery finished his Colby-Sawyer career as one of the best baseball players to ever don a Chargers uniform. This season, Hartery led the team and the entire conference with six triples. The six triples ranked him 13th in the nation. In addition to his single season accomplishments, Chris has made a lasting impact in the Colby-Sawyer record books. He ranks first all-time in triples (17), tied for second in doubles (29) and fourth in runs batted in (115). Chris also ranks fifth in runs (112) and hits (145), while ranking sixth in homeruns (13) and in walks (56). He was named to the All-TCCC second team as a sophomore.

Chris Smith (Lisbon, N.H.) and Carter Malpass (Plymouth, Mass.) were the only other seniors on the 2010 squad. Malpass picked up two wins in eight appearances and four starts, while Smith earned a save in five relief appearances.
