BOSTON, Mass. - May 3, 2010 - Members of the Colby-Sawyer track and field team competed this past weekend at the New England Championships hosted by Tufts University. 

The men's 4x100 team comprised of Kevin Meleshuk, Josh Commey, Derek Lautenschlager, and Matt Cole clocked in at 45.43 for a 15th place finish. 

Nick Rockwell continued to stamp his name in the Colby-Sawyer record book this season by breaking another one at New England's. He had a distance of 42.82m in the discus throw to beat the previous mark of 40.36m set back in 2002 by Tommy Lavigne. He placed ninth in the event out of 29 competitors. Unfortunately for Nick in the javelin, he could not get a distance. 

Anthony Sedita had a distance of 42.10m in the javelin in his first New England Championships appearance. 

Kristin Sawyer and Melody Owen each made their first trip to New England's as they qualified for the shot put event earlier this season. The teammates tied for 22nd with each other by throwing the shot an identical 10.50m.

Danielle Perry and Caitlin Pond each qualified for the Championships in the Heptathlon. Highlighting the events for Caitlin was a second place finish in the javelin (29.48m) and a seventh place in the shot put (9.30m). Perry's best event on the day was the 200 meter dash resulting in a third place finish out of 22 runners. She clocked in at 27.52.
