NEW LONDON, N.H. –– Colby-Sawyer Athletic Director Deb McGrath announced the hiring of Emily Rinde-Thorsen, who will become the field hockey Head Coach next season and become the 13th women's lacrosse Head Coach in program history.

The Colby-Sawyer field hockey program will spend the 2010 season as a club sport, but will play a competitive varsity schedule in preparation of becoming the institutions' 18 varsity sport in the fall of 2011.

“Coach Rinde-Thorsen brings tremendous depth of experience to our developing field hockey program with her elite experiences as a national player in the sport,” said McGrath. “We are looking forward to her enthusiasm and welcoming her to Colby-Sawyer knowing that she will enhance both our women's lacrosse and field hockey programs.”

Emily has spent the last several years as the assistant varsity field hockey coach at Kimball Union Academy (KUA) in Meriden, N.H. She also spent three years as the assistant varsity lacrosse coach, specializing in defense and goalkeepers. While at KUA, Rinde-Thorsen helped guide the field hockey team to three Lakes Region League Championships and three NEPSAC (New England Preparatory School Athletic Council) Tournament Championships. She was also the Assistant Athletic Director at KUA from 2004-2007.

Rinde-Thorsen currently co-owns and oversees the Peak Field Hockey Camp, LLC during the summer months. She is also the owner and field hockey Head Coach of the Upper Valley Blizzard Field Hockey Club located in Grantham, N.H.
