Chris Hartery and Greg Mehuron Honored by TCCC

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 28, 2010 – Colby-Sawyer senior Chris Hartery (Billerica, Mass.) and sophomore Greg Mehuron (Waitsfield, Vt.) have been honored by the TCCC for their performance on the baseball diamond this season. Hartery earned a nod to the All-TCCC First Team for the first time of his career, while Mehuron garnered All-TCCC honorable mention accolades.

The Colby-Sawyer baseball team was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award as voted on by the TCCC coaches.

Hartery finishes his Colby-Sawyer career as one of the best baseball players to ever don a Chargers uniform. This season, Hartery led the team and the entire conference with six triples. The six triples ranked him 13th in the nation. He also tied the Colby-Sawyer record for triples in a season with six that he set last year. Hartery played and started all of the teams 33 games this season and compiled the most at-bats with 112. He also led the team in doubles (7), triples (6), homeruns (5), total bases (72), walks (16), slugging percentage (.643), and runs batted in (29).

In addition to his single season accomplishments, Chris has made a lasting impact in the Colby-Sawyer record books. He ranks first all-time in triples (17), tied for second in doubles (29) and fourth in runs batted in (115). Chris also ranks fifth in runs (112) and hits (145), while ranking sixth in homeruns (13) and in walks (56). He was named to the All-TCCC second team as a sophomore.

Mehuron was stellar at the plate all season long and posted the fifth highest single season batting average by hitting at a .404 clip. Greg led the team with his batting average and was 8th out of all players in the conference. He struck out just seven times in 99 official at-bats, ranking him 240th in the country as toughest to strike out. Greg also led the team in stolen bases (10) and on base percentage (.465), and was second on the team in slugging percentage (.465), RBI (25), and total bases (46).
