Tom White Named to NEIBA All-New England First Team
MEDFORD, Mass. – May 14, 2009 – Colby-Sawyer senior Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.) has earned a trip to play at Campanelli Stadium after being named to the 2009 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-New England First Team. The game will be played on Thursday, June 4 with festivities beginning at 5:00 p.m. and first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. White is one of only two players from the TCCC to be named to the first team.
The all-star game will feature a team of Division I All-Stars that will play a team of Division II All-Stars and Division III Senior All-Stars. The University Division leads the series with a 21-11-1 record. However, the College Division team has won the past two seasons.
White ranks among the best Division III baseball players in the country, with his name appearing in numerous statistical categories. Tom was tied for 14th in the nation with 63 RBI and ranked 8th with 1.62 RBI per game. His 12 homeruns this season ranked him tied for 30th. White ranked 39th in the nation with a .777 slugging percentage and ranked 75th in total bases with 108.
In addition to the All-New England award, White has garnered other awards this season including a nod to the All-TCCC First Team for the second time of his career. Also, on May 3 at the senior awards banquet, White received the Charger Award for the 2008-2009 Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year.
White finishes his Colby-Sawyer career as one of the best baseball players to ever don a Chargers uniform. This season, White led the team in at-bats, batting average, hits, homeruns, stolen bases, RBI, and slugging percentage. Tom has solidified his name in the record books by being in the top three all-time in six offensive categories. He ranks first all-time in doubles (39) and ranks second all-time in hits (164), runs (119) and stolen bases (40). He sits in third place all-time in walks with 59 and RBI with 133. White also finished his career in fourth place on the all-time career homerun list with 19.
