Sam Damon

Sam Damon is in his first year in 2012-2013 as the Head Alpine Ski Coach.

Damon takes over a program that returned to the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) in 2012, after spending the previous 14 seasons with the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference (ECSC). The team returns with seven men and seven women from last year, and has a very strong incoming freshman class of four men and three women.

“I am very excited to be here at Colby-Sawyer with this program,” said Damon. “We have a lot of success to build on from previous seasons, and the move to NCAA competition provides some huge opportunities for our skiers and for the school. We have a really bright future.”

“Sam Damon brings tremendous expertise and energy to the Alpine Ski Racing program,” said Athletic Director Deb McGrath. “He is committed to our talented student-athletes and will continue to move this program forward.”

Damon received a BA in History from Dartmouth College in 2004. He coached in Colorado for four years, and then moved to the Nor-Am and Europa Cup circuits with Warner Nickerson for a year. He went on to the Burke Mountain Academy for the following two years. Last year, he studied Computer Science at Harvard and was the assistant coach of the ski team. One of ski team members won the individual NCAA GS National Championship.

An avid bike rider and kayaker, Sam is excited to be back in New Hampshire as part of the team at Colby-Sawyer.
