As a junior: Chris played in and started all 39 games for the Chargers. He was tied for third highest batting average on the team with a .336 mark. Hartery led the team in runs (46), doubles (11), and triples (6) and was second in RBI with 41. He also was a perfect 10-10 on stolen base attempts. Going into the season he needs just one triple to be the school’s all-time leader in that category. When he wasn’t taking care of business at the plate, he was tracking down grounders at third base. He matched last season’s total of 90 assists and improved his fielding percentage to .947.
As a sophomore: Hartery had a standout second season, as he started all 37 games for the Chargers at third base. After a slow start offensively, Hartery exploded into one of the hottest hitters in the conference, finishing with a .328 batting average, five homeruns and 32 RBIs. He led the team in total bases (73) and doubles (9), and finished second on the team in homeruns, RBIs, triples (3), and slugging percentage (.557). Defensively, he has developed into one of the best in the conference, as he recorded 90 assists with a fielding percentage of .926. With the Chargers making a playoff bid during the last week of April, Hartery played his best as he batted .652 on 15 hits and had a 1.174 slugging percentage, two home runs, four doubles, and one triple in five games. Hartery was named the ECAC Player of the Week and later was named to the All-TCCC Second Team.
As a freshman: Hartery started 29 out of his 30 appearances his rookie season and went on to bat .262 and drive in 13 runs. He smacked two doubles and two triples, while stealing four bases in five attempts. At third base, Hartery played solid recorded only five errors and a .933 fielding percentage.
At Billerica Memorial: Hartery was a two sport athlete for the Indians in baseball and cross country. As a third baseman, he helped the team to a Merrimack Valley Conference Co-Championship, Massachusetts North Division Runner-up finish, and the Lowell Spinners World Series Championship. Hartery was named to the 2006 Merrimack Valley Conference Second Team.
Personal: Son of Steve and Gail Hartery. Has a younger sister named Brianna. Father, Steve, played in the Chicago Cubs organization as a pitcher, making it to the AAA level. Majoring in Business Administration.
