CHARGERS KICK OFF BONNIE MAY TOURNAMENT

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team suffered its first setback of the 2026 season on Friday evening, falling to Smith College to kick of the Bonnie May Tournament.

Rapid Recap:

  • Smith set the tone early in the opening frame, capitalizing on a red-hot offensive start to build a quick double-digit cushion. Despite the Chargers effort, Smith's hot start was difficult to come back from. Junior Kamryn Brakemeier (Keller, Texas) would set the tone for the Chargers offensive, recording four kills.

  • Colby-Sawyer regrouped and went toe-to-toe with the Pioneers in a competitive second set. First-year Liv Chandonnait (Belmont, N.H.) would pace the Chargers and elevate their offensive rhythm, registering 4 of the 11 kills while both teams were trading points deep into the frame. However, late timely kills from Smith allowed the hosts to fend off the push and take a 25-21 decision for a 2-0 match lead.

  • The third set saw the Chargers continue to battle, matching their set-two total with 11 more kills and a .219 clip. Chandonnait continued to push the pace with four more kills in the third set. Sophomore Sailor Plourde (Branford, Conn.) and First-Year Haley Arp (Englewood, Fla.) would record two kills each. Smith answered by putting down 15 kills of their own, pulling away midway through the frame to close out the match with a 25-17 victory.

Inside the Numbers:

  • First-year Liv Chandonnait paced the Colby-Sawyer offense with a team-high nine kills while adding six digs.

  • Senior setter Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) dished out 19 assists, collected six digs, and notched a service ace.
