NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team earned an electrifying five-set victory (25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 24-26, 15-10) over Western New England University on Saturday afternoon at the Dan and Kathleen Hogan Sports Center.

Colby-Sawyer rallied from an early deficit in the opening frame, sparked by a four-ace serving run from senior Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) to push ahead 13-9. The Chargers held off a late Golden Bears charge, closing out the set 25-22 on an opponent service error.

The two squads traded momentum throughout set two, featuring 10 ties and five lead changes. Western New England edged ahead late behind consecutive points to claim a narrow 25-23 equalizer.

The Chargers regained control in the third stanza. Trailing 20-19, junior Kamryn Brakemeier (Keller, Texas) sparked a decisive 6-0 run from the service line, serving up three aces alongside kills from first-year Liv Chandonnait (Belmont, N.H.) and first-year Haley Arp (Englewood, Fla.) to take the set, 25-20.

In a dramatic fourth set, Colby-Sawyer battled back from an eight-point deficit to fend off two set points and knot the score at 24-24. However, the Golden Bears captured back-to-back rallies to squeak out a 26-24 decision and force a deciding fifth set.

Colby-Sawyer took command early in the fifth frame, building an 8-4 lead behind kills and an ace from Brakemeier. After Western New England pulled within 11-10, sophomore Addison Sasnett (Virginia Beach, VA.) and Arp combined for a crucial block to ignite a match-ending 4-0 run. Junior Madison Sinatro served up an ace before setting up Brakemeier for back-to-back kills to seal the 15-10 victory.

Brakemeier registered a monster double-double, putting down a match-high 21 kills while adding five service aces, 11 digs, and a block.

Bacon orchestrated the offense with a career-high 47 assists, adding four service aces and 15 digs for her own double-double.

Arp reached double-figure kills with 10 on the afternoon while tallying two blocks, and Chandonnait contributed nine kills and nine digs.

Sinatro anchored the backcourt with a match-best 32 digs, dished out four assists, and landed two service aces.

Sophomore Jules Larock collected 15 digs, seven kills, and two assists.

The Chargers held advantages over the Golden Bears in total kills (59-47), service aces (12-11), assists (54-41), and digs (104-87).
