NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team produced an explosive offensive showing on Saturday afternoon, cruising past Mitchell College, 8-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at Kelsey Field.

Colby-Sawyer set the tone immediately, striking just 4:29 into the match. Senior Ellie Smith (Plymouth, Mass.) delivered a crisp pass to senior Sydney Ledoux (Bolton, Conn.), who slotted home her first goal of the season to give the Chargers a 1-0 advantage.

Senior Stella Lavertue (Claremont, N.H.) ignited her scoring spree at 15:32, converting a feed from first-year Sofia Blanco (Marshfield, Mass.) to double the margin.

Less than four minutes later, senior Lena Rodrigues (Belmont, N.H.) stepped up to the spot and converted a penalty kick at 19:26 to push the lead to 3-0.

The Chargers continued to pour on pressure before the intermission. Junior Kate Vasconcelos (Woodsville, N.H.) found Blanco for a finish at 22:42, before Vasconcelos found the back of the net herself off an assist from junior Maddie LaVarnway (Claremont, N.H.) at 37:32 to send Colby-Sawyer into halftime leading 5-0.

Smith opened the second-half scoring just 42 seconds after the restart (45:42) with an unassisted tally.

Lavertue capped off her stellar afternoon with two more strikes, finishing a setup from first-year Eve Van Wickler (Sturbridge, Mass.) at 54:55 before burying an unassisted marker at 80:18 to seal her first career collegiate hat trick and the 8-0 victory.
