JOHNSON, Vt. – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer rounded out their weekend against Vermont State University Johnson on Sunday afternoon at Minaert Field.

Colby-Sawyer struck first just past the quarter-hour mark. At the 15:12 mark, Senior Ellie Smith (Plymouth, Mass.) found space in the attacking third and buried an unassisted strike for her second goal of the season to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead.

The Badgers responded with a quick two-goal flurry midway through the half. Emilia Garcia knotted the score at 1-1 in the 23rd minute before Willow Clements found the back of the net at 25:08 to push VTSU Johnson ahead, 2-1, heading into halftime.

VTSU Johnson extended its cushion nine minutes into the second half when Leighton Fenyus converted a penalty kick at 54:27 to make it 3-1.

The Chargers looked to rally down the stretch, earning two second-half corner kicks and testing Badgers goalkeeper Paige Adams, but VTSU Johnson would close out the game.

Junior Eve Van Wickler (Sturbridge, Mass.) and senior Sydney Ledoux (Bolton, Conn.) each recorded a shot on target for Colby-Sawyer.

Junior Nicole Morello (Wilmington, Mass.) made three saves for the Chargers, while Senior Lyndsey Valletta (Macedon, N.Y.) would record a save as well.
