CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) decision to Elms College on Wednesday evening at Leary Field.

Rapid Recap:

• Elms seized control in the opening half behind Emily Basua, who opened the scoring at the 7:14 mark off an assist from Maddie Saunders to put the Blazers ahead 1-0.

• Basua doubled the margin less than ten minutes later, finishing a pass from Sophia Andrade and Olivia Vale da Serra at 16:41 to send the hosts into the intermission with a 2-0 advantage.

• The Blazers struck quickly out of the break to extend their lead, as Basua completed her hat trick with an unassisted marker at 47:12 to make it 3-0.

• Colby-Sawyer's defense settled in for the remainder of the contest, holding Elms scoreless over the final 42 minutes, but the Chargers were unable to break through the Blazers' back line.

Inside the Numbers:

• The Chargers' goalkeeping tandem combined for 12 saves on the evening, turning away six shots in each half against a persistent Elms attack.

The Chargers (1-4-0, 0-2-0 GNAC) return to conference play on Saturday, September 19, traveling to Boston, Mass. to square off against Simmons University with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 PM.
